Investigation on Circular Array of Turbulent Impinging Round Jets at Confined Case: A CFD Study

Jet impingement has immense applications in industrial cooling, such as glass tempering, turbine blades, electrical equipment, etc. The interplay in-between several jet arrangements and the effect of swirl intensity require enormous study to achieve steady heat transfer. This paper numerically investigates an inline array 25 circular confined swirling air jets impinging vertically on a flat surface. In this regard, three-dimensional simulations are executed using finite volume method for number control parameters, Reynolds (Re = 11600, 24600, 35000), distance (H/D 0.25, 0.5, 1), (S 0.3 0.75) jet-to-jet separation (Z/D 2.5), where, D is nozzle diameter. Impinging pressure distribution, flow velocity, surface Nusselt number, stresses investigated different operating conditions. results reveal that both wall comparatively uniform case high flow. Moreover, distinct transfer behavior observed from unconfined condition which constant after certain radial distance. normal stress adjacent exit more rigorous than downstream regions while shear varies unpredictably along direction. addition, estimated 102 % enhancement average flow, at increment 11600 35000. evident by 23 terms thermal performance factor. Besides, factor augmented 19 8 %, respectively, increased low =11600).
